LIMA — The Lima-Allen County Safe Community Coalition reports there were no fatal traffic crashes on Allen County roadways during November, leaving at 11 the number of fatal accidents in the county this year.
The 11 crashes that took place during the first 11 months of 2017 resulted in 11 fatalities. Of that total, three fatal crashes, which left a total of three individuals dead, took place on state and/or federal highways. Six crashes took place on county roads, leaving six persons fatally injured. One fatality occurred on a city street and one took place on a township roadway, according to the coalition.
Seven of the fatal crashes involved the suspected use of alcohol or drugs, according to the coalition. Six of the 11 persons killed were not wearing safety belts. In the lone motorcycle fatality, the deceased was wearing a helmet.
