Cridersville man faces child endangerment charges

LIMA — A Cridersville man who became belligerent during and after a traffic stop Saturday evening faces a variety of charges, ranging from operating a motor vehicle while under the influence to endangering children.

According to a report filed by the Allen County Sheriff’s Office, Matthew A. Lord, 30, was arrested after a vehicle he was driving was stopped by deputies in the area of Elida Road and American Avenue. The reporting deputy said he observed a vehicle “weaving through traffic in a reckless manner” and initiated a traffic stop. The vehicle pulled into a parking lot, at which time the deputy said he saw the driver and passenger trade places in the front seat.

Deputy Brandon Hemker wrote that he “immediately noticed the strong odor of alcoholic beverages” upon approaching the vehicle and also observed two small children in the back seat. Lord, who was at that point sitting in the passenger’s seat, was asked to exit the vehicle and did so.
