LIMA — A man will spend 11 years in prison for shooting and killing a Lima business owner in 2001 and hiding out ever since.
Judge Jeffrey Reed sentenced David Evans, 36, to 11 years in prison on a voluntary manslaughter with a gun charge over the July 2, 2001, killing of 69-year-old Cardell Beachum outside Beachum’s business, Sports and Sorts, 1290 St. John Ave.
Evans eventually came forward in the case after 15 years on the run, turning himself in and confessing to the fatal shooting.
