LIMA – With less than a month to go in the year, police detectives are holding their breath as they remain busy handling seven homicide cases this year, a number that ties the most in the past decade.
The most recent was the Dec. 3 killing of 26-year-old Orlando Lawrence, who police found shot on a porch at 421 N. Baxter St. Lawrence’s slaying is the only homicide this year that an arrest has not been made or a suspect has not been named, but it’s very early in the investigation.
The last time Lima had seven homicides was in 2009. There were six in 2012 and as few as one in 2011. Last year, there were two.
