LIMA — A Lima man who police say violently beat, detained and raped his girlfriend has been indicted by an Allen County grand jury and will be arraigned Friday on a variety of charges.
Jordan Simpson, 24, was indicted on charges of rape, a first degree felony; felonious assault, a second-degree felony; and abduction and sexual battery, both felonies of the third degree.
According to court documents, Simpson, on Dec. 14 of last year, had been picked up by his girlfriend, Chelsea Waldron, at his apartment at 124 N. Jameson St. An argument ensued, police say, and Simpson allegedly became violent and began to choke Waldron. She pulled to the side of the road and told Simpson to exit the vehicle, but he refused, according to court records. The couple then returned to Simpson’s apartment, where he again became violent and assaulted her for up to three hours, police said, by punching Waldron in the face multiple times, choking her and striking her with an extension cord. Simpson refused to allow Waldron to leave the apartment, resulting in the abduction charge. The police narrative made no mention of a sexual assault.
